Dear Mr Holmes, Reference Order No 200 – TRO/03/53 (MERCHISTON AREA) In conjunction with my associates, I wish to register my formal objection to the introduction of parking controls in the area I live in. I do not want the proposed parking controls or any elements of the scheme suggested by your organisation imposed on me because they will mean having to meet another tax-like financial burden and restrict the freedom of people to visit my property at their own convenience. Your proposals will also reduce the amount of parking spaces available to residents and their guests to an unacceptable level. Furthermore, the proposals will cause serious disruption to the effective running of local shops and businesses and have an adverse affect on the volume of passing trade in the area. If these enterprises have to close I, and others, will lose the use of essential services that also act as an important focal point for the community I live in. I wish to register my serious concern at the lack of information given about what will constitute ‘a mandate to proceed with the proposals’. Please clarify what constitutes a mandate to proceed, whether it covers the whole of the proposed expansion zone and if not, how and where the boundaries of smaller areas will be defined. In the introduction of your consultation proforma it is stated that ‘should this consultation raise any major concerns about the scheme, the making of the Traffic Orders will be postponed until the issues can be resolved’. As the above objections constitute a major concern to me, and others, I respectfully request your assurance that further, inclusive consultation about the above concerns will be entered into before attempting to proceed with implementing any of the scheme. Yours Sincerely, ………..………………………….. (Signature) …….……………………………… (Printed Name) |
